4th European Conference JOIN-TRANS 2016
Halle (Saale), 11/12 May 2016. Schweißtechnische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt Halle GmbH and the ECWRV (European Committee for Welding on Railway Vehicles) staged the 4th Conference JOIN-TRANS, Joining and Construction of Railway Vehicles, on 11 and 12 May. International involvement was particularly high this year: participants from 20 countries on three continents followed an interesting conference programme.
Professor Dr.-Ing. Steffen Keitel, Managing Director of SLV Halle GmbH and Chairman of the ECWRV, opened the conference on the afternoon of 11 May 2016 in the large conference hall at SLV Halle GmbH. In the two-day, English language event guests of SLV Halle GmbH had a superb stage on which to consolidate the transfer of knowledge in the field of welding technology in rail vehicle construction, as well as exchanging experience in the design and manufacture of rail vehicles from a welding technology viewpoint.
The first day of the conference culminated in a well-attended evening event at the Händelhaus Halle. Many guests took the opportunity to find out more about this world-famous composer with an extensive tour of the museum.
The second day of the conference once again offered excellent speakers, with presentations illustrating the state of the art in welding technology for railway vehicle construction and the application of international standards.
The traditional exhibition of well-known providers and developers of welding technology further enhanced the international conference.
The fourth staging of the English-language JoinTrans - Joining and Construction of Railway Vehicles conference has seen it conclusively established as international parallel to the longstanding national conference Joining and Design in Railway Vehicle Construction, staged at SLV Halle.
SLV Halle would like to thank the sponsors of the conference, EWM AG, Mündersbach (Gold Sponsor), Carl Cloos Schweißtechnik GmbH, Haiger, Kemppi GmbH, Langgöns and OTC DAIHEN Europe GmbH, Mönchengladbach (all Silver Sponsors) and the numerous exhibitors who contributed to the success of the conference.
All participants agreed that this conference was an extremely successful one and that a repeat in 2018 is the logical progression. Many of those present already declared their intention to participate in the 5th JOIN-TRANS 2018 before leaving the conference.
